If you are interested in finding out what specials Alves Discount Carpet & Flooring has this month, you’ve come to the right place. We are proud to announce some great deals on closeout products in both laminate and carpet.
Are you looking for some hard surface flooring that won’t break the bank? Then these specials are for you.
PergoPro Commercial Laminate
If you need a nearly indestructible laminate flooring, this is it. Originally the cream of the crop of laminate, this PergoPro line has been discontinued. We managed to snag some of the last remaining stocks from the warehouse. Just months ago, this product retailed for around $5 a square foot. However we are offering it at half that!
While water is always the enemy of laminate, this product has a high density core that resists water impregnation and damage better than any other laminate out there. Featuring the Uniclic locking system and an AC5 heavy commercial wear layer, it is the perfect product for the Do-It-Yourselfer who wants a bomb proof floor. The rustic hickory print has a warm color and is a medium tone. It’s not too dark, not too light. The surface has a registered emboss, meaning the texture matches the print. If you see wood grain or knots on the the laminate, you can feel them too! Just check out the picture below to see what I mean:
What does an AC5 surface rating mean? Well have a look at this:

Last year’s Home Show was a massive success. We not only were able to showcase the services you’ve known Alves Inc for for years, but got to introduce our new flooring division, Alves Discount Carpet & Flooring. This year we are hoping to see even more of you all out there this weekend. We will have representatives on site to answer questions regarding all the services Alves Inc provides.
Roofing, gutters & downspouts, paving, excavating, construction debris recycling, flooring… the list keeps going on. See what’s new with us and find out what we have. Grab some pens, calendars and other assorted swag. Also, help yourself to the candy. Please, save us from ourselves.
Here at Alves Discount Carpet & Flooring, we routinely get do-it-yourselfers of various types. Occasionally we get DIYers who come in with the intention, skills, and experience to do the job themselves, but more often we run into people who are less determined. These customers are concerned that they lack the experience, tools or time to take on a flooring project themselves. Today we will break down the various flooring options and how easy they are to approach as a do-it-yourselfer. Hopefully this will help any of you on the fence decide whether or not you should go ahead with your plans or inspire more of you to give it a go. It can be easier than you might think.
For those that want the quick summary. Don’t do carpet, but fiberglass backed sheet vinyl, laminate and vinyl tile are great products to do for yourself and we have options in stock. Wood, bamboo and cork are specialty products and you should ask us before ordering if installing it yourself is your plan.
It’s in the name of the store and we have it in droves, but carpet is one of the least DIY friendly flooring products to work with. For starters, moving carpet is a pain. Most people will have a very difficult time transporting and working the carpet into position on the floor by themselves. Cutting and trimming carpet is a risky proposition as well since one wrong cut can ruin, or at the very least greatly complicate, an installation.
Carpet requires special tools to properly stretch it onto the tack strip or seam two pieces together. This is especially true in the case of rooms where a single drop (full roll width) of carpet is not enough to fill the space. If your room is more than twelve feet wide you now have to have a second drop of carpet which must be carefully trimmed in order to have two clean edges to seam together. This oftentimes requires special blades and tools to get the cut just right, to say nothing of the seaming iron. Many of these tools can be rented from tool and hardware rental stores, but they are not the most user friendly things out there. Experience is definitely preferred when working with any carpet specific tools.
We will be taking advantage of the Memorial Day weekend. Friday, May 22, will have limited hours likely closing around noon, and all Alves divisions will be closed Saturday, May 23rd, and Monday, May 25th.
We had a blast at the 2015 Home, Sports and Recreation Show at Redwood Acres this past weekend. Thanks to all of you who showed up, inquired about our services and partook of our candies and other assorted goodness. And our thanks go out to Redwood Acres and Suddenlink Communications for putting hosting and sponsoring the event respectively.
